While the previous films centered on humans entering the digital world, The Grid, TRON: Ares reverses this narrative. Filming for TRON: Ares officially began in January 2024 in Vancouver, Canada, and wrapped in May 2024, despite earlier delays due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Director Rønning referred to the project by the working title “Velcro” during production. The production team, including cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth (The Social Network, Gone Girl), has been praised for achieving “next-level” visuals that Rønning described as “the Holy Grail of computer graphics.”
The Music
A notable element of the TRON films has always been the soundtrack. Following the iconic score by Wendy Carlos in the original and Daft Punk’s work on Legacy, the score for Ares is being composed by the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, specifically members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
